Sofia Elizalde is the founder and director of Steps Dance Studio and Steps Dance Project, as well as the Director of the Steps Dance Studio Scholarship Foundation.

Sofia began dancing at the age of four in the Philippines and received instruction from several teachers such as Chloe Romulo, Felicitas Radaic, Effie Nañas, Inday Mañosa and William Morgan. She performed Clara in The Nutcracker with the CCP Dance Company in her first leading role, and later continued her training at Elmhurst Ballet School in England where she completed her Elementary, Intermediate and Advanced Examinations at the Royal Academy of Dance. She was awarded the Sylphide Cup for Most Outstanding Performance in her graduating year.

She received additional training at the School of American Ballet in New York and San Francisco Ballet School, and then joined Ballet Philippines to perform in various leading roles in productions such as Swan Lake, Giselle, the Nutcracker, La Bayadere, Cinderella, Snow White, A Midsummer Night’s Dream and Itim Asu. She also performed the lead role in Alice Reyes’ Carmen for its Hong Kong and Russian tour.
